The New Upgraded Facebook Pages

Posted on Saturday, 19th March 2011

If you already have a business page on Facebook you will have noticed that since February 2011 they have upgraded the look and functionality, similarly to the personal pages. This article will explain how the new upgraded pages look works.

Upgrade your page

When going to your page you will find a message on the top inviting you to upgrade your page. If you're unsure whether you want to do this, you can first look at a preview or get a tour.

Sooner or later all pages will probably be upgraded, similar to the personal pages.

The new features

Showcase your latest photos: On top, in the middle of your page you will now find your latest photos. Unfortunately the tabs are gone, which used to take you straight to the different sub-pages like notes, photos, welcome page, etc. You can now find these in the left column underneath your page profile picture. They are no longer as prominent as before but people will get used to the new format.

Your latest photos will not include those uploaded by fans and you can delete one from your newsfeed simply by clicking on the 'x' which will appear as you roll over the photo.

Navigation: As mentioned above the navigation, which originally appeared as tabs in the middle column, has moved to the left column. This is the same as on the personal profile so people will come to expect it there with time.

Your wall: You have the choice to see all the posts, including those of your fans, or just those from the page itself. Similar to personal pages you've got the option to show top posts, being those which the most people have commented on, on top. To change default filter settings simply go to 'edit your page'.

Use Facebook as your page: Now this is a clever new addition! You can now post from your page, which means that instead of your personal identity you can act as if from your page's identity and post comments, like other pages, see activities and get notification for your page. This is a brand new feature and is a great additional tool for example for public figures, bands etc. who mainly want to post from their page, rather than their personal page.

New settings: Check out the settings for new additional options to personalize the navigation bar etc.

Can I move back to the old profile?

Be mindful that once you've upgraded you cannot revert back to the old version so you need to make up your mind before you hit 'upgrade'. If you're unsure, click on preview and check it out first.
