jQuery is one of the best AJAX libraries available on the web. With all the extensions, features and plugins available, once can easily create an effectve animation without haveing much knowledge about jQuery.

For those of you that don't know much about jQuery. jQuery plugins will not just help you enhance the functionality of your website but will also enable you to easily create some stunning effects on your website.

In this post I will some of the best jQuery plugings I found.

DualSlider

A great option to have as a splash feature at the top of your website, you can highlight recent articles or anything you wish to feature, this can be in a form of a banner or even a video...basically anything you want.

DualSlider takes whatever you would like to display and turns it into an attractive dual animated slider. You are only limited by your own creativity in terms of styling or tweaking the animations to suit your needs.

Autocomplete

Autocomplete an input field to enable users quickly finding and selecting some value, leveraging searching and filtering.

By giving an autocompleted field focus or entering something into it, the plugin starts searching for matching entries and displays a list of values to choose from. By entering more characters, the user can filter down the list to better matches.

This can be used to enter previous selected values, eg. for tags, to complete an address, eg. enter a city name and get the zip code, or maybe enter email addresses from an addressbook.

Cycle

The jQuery Cycle Plugin is a slideshow plugin that supports many different types of transition effects. It supports pause-on-hover, auto-stop, auto-fit, before/after callbacks, click triggers and much more. It also supports, but does not require, the Metadata Plugin and the Easing Plugin.

The plugin provides a method called cycle which is invoked on a container element. Each child element of the container becomes a "slide". Options control how and when the slides are transitioned.

It supports single and grouped photos, iframes and inline frames thus providing a flexible solution for AJAX popups.
With some CSS knowledge once can easily update the look and feel while with some HTML and JavaScirpt knowledge once can extend callbacks and events.

jQuery Watermark

This simple-to-use jQuery plugin adds watermark capability to HTML input and textarea elements.

A watermark typically appears as light gray text within an input or textarea element whenever the element is empty and does not have focus. This provides a hint to the user as to what the input or textarea element is used for, or the type of input that is required.

For example, a search input space sometimes appears at the top of the page, giving the user quick access to the search functionality. Oftentimes you will see the word "Search" in light gray text in that space, and when the user clicks into the entry space, the word disappears. That is an example of a watermark.

jScrollPane

ScrollPane is a jquery plugin which allows you to replace the browsers default vertical scrollbars on any block level element with an overflow:auto style. You can easily control the apperance of the custom scrollbars using simple CSS.

jScrollPane is crossbrowser, working on all browsers that support jquery and it also degrades gracefully. If a user's browser doesn't support jQuery or has JavaScript turned off then they will see the browsers default scrollbars. If the mouse wheel plugin is included in the page then the scroll panes will respond to mouse wheel events as well.

Tablesorter is a plugin for turning a standard HTML table with THEAD and TBODY tags into a sortable table without page refreshes. tablesorter can successfully parse and sort many types of data including linked data in a cell.

The right click browser menu is not exactly a plugin but is useful to add additional features to websites and Administration areas.

Creating right click with the help of jquery is real easy and can be implemented very quickly.

jQuery.spritely is a jQuery plugin created for dynamic character and background animation in pure HTML and JavaScript. It's a simple, light-weight plugin with a few simple methods for creating animated sprites such as animations, and dynamic scrolling backgrounds.

You can use it on any html web page, and any part of the page can interact with a sprite.
